29 Years Old. What Is The Dosage For Eption 100 Mg?

Question: HI i am 29 and having eption 100 mg 3 times a day can i make is 2 times a day to reduce the side efficts
Hi Friend
While using anti-epileptic drugs, there is titration considering efficacy and side effects. For an average adult the dose of diphenulhydantoin (eptoin) is 300 mg/day. It will not be correct to reduce it to 200 mg/day for the fear / avoidance of side effects. Some of the measures which can be taken are:
1 Avoid alcohol
2 Gum massage and care of gum + periodic dental check up
3 Calcium: To have diet XXXXXXX in calcium and calcium supplement will be prescribed to you by your doctor
4 Folic acid supplementation can be considered by your doctor if needed
5 Periodic check up with your doctor for efficacy and side effects

Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks again for writing back. Here are your questions answered:
1. Occasional scrotal swelling has been reported with this drug, but not a cyst.
2. You are required to take 300 mg eptoin per day - it could be single dose or as 100+200 (morning and night) or as 100 - 100- 100 based on your suitability. But in any case do not miss any dose. And never change or modify the medications without the guidance of a doctor.
3. You can work in night shift, but have adequate sleep in day. Adequate sleep is a must while dealing with epilepsy. In addition you also follow life style with less stress.
Hope I answered all your queries. Feel free to post other queries if any, I will be pleased to reply.

Do I have to take this medication for my lifetime.... Or there is some point that it can be stoped
Hi,
I apologize for the delay.
Anticonvulsants in general can be gradually tapered off after a seizure free interval of 2-3 years. More than three fourth cases we are successful in stopping the medicine. This step will be done by your treating doctor after considering various parameters.
Hope this answers your query.
