37 Weeks Pregnancy, Weakness In Legs, Chest Pain, Clogged Nose, Dizziness, Hypothyroid. Treatment ?
Thanks for your query.
In the advanced stage of pregnancy i.e. 37 weeks body balance gets disturbed ,so back muscles have to work more than normal and leg also have to bear more weight..
Space in the vertebral column ( spinal cord) also narrows down during pregnancy ,so pressing the nerve roots in some cases leading to sign & symptoms like leg weakness ,pains ,stiff back muscles with discomfort or pain .
One also feels weakness in legs during pregnancy due to deficiency of calcium ,proteins , vitamins and pregnancy induced hormonal changes.
Some time some viral infection can also cause weakness in legs.
Nasal symptoms can be due to some allergy or congestion
Most of your sign & symptoms are temporary and appear to be due to pregnancy and will disappear after delivery.
You are 37 weeks pregnant & a known case of hypothyroidism ,well treated & managed , now on synthroid with normal TSH level .
T4 is fluctuating ,now slightly on lower side. nothing much to worry .
It is question of few days ,after delivery you may feel better & relieved of symptoms
Hope I have answered your query, I will be available to answer your follow up queries, Wish you Good Health and trouble free speedy recovery.
re my T4 ... i was told it being low during delivery could cause blood pressure to drop if i have an epidural... are u aware of low T4 level in pregnancy? is there any dangers in birth with having your T4 low? i believe my T4 is .76 and it needs to be at .82 or higher..
Nice to see you again
Chest pain under left breast , in left breast & back is mainly due over stretching of muscles and pressure over stomach also contributes little bit ( you can call gas trapped.)
Extra gas is normal in pregnancy as progesterone slows down your intestinal tract, which lets gas build up. Secondly, your growing uterus crowds your bowels and causes gas to get trapped in pockets. As you get further along in your pregnancy and become short of breath, you swallow more air which, in turn causes more gas build-up.
There are some things you can do to help. Avoid fatty, greasy and high carbohydrate foods which are normal causes of gas.Eat small frequent meals.Avoid diet soda. You can also check with your treating physician about taking Phazyme .
I don`t think low T 4 is going to effect BP to such an extent .As we are regularly doing so many LSCS(caesarean section) in hypothyroid patients under spinal anesthesia .
BP fall is more in spinal anesthesia than epidural.
Still there is time ,it may come to normal as you are taking treatment ,and its level is fluctuating.
Many pregnant patients in our nursing home suffer from such complaints .Most of them get relief after delivery.

also, i wanted to ask if an increase in heart rate during pregnancy, your third trimester is normal..i have been having pvc's since 2005 when i was diagnosed with postpartum thyroidits which dr's have said were benign.. i've been exper. pvc's(a pause then thump) lately and last night a flutter while sittin and watching tv... is this normal during this time due to the extra work load on heart in third trimester? i've also noticed my heart rate will increase after eating, or sitting up after laying down when bladder is full and i am sitting down or randomly during the day .. to maybe like 120... i will cough, bear down and take XXXXXXX long breaths and it relaxes but stays in the 90's.... is this normal?
going to obgyn today.. any questions or tests i should ask?
lookin forward to hearing from you .. thank you again.
Nice to hear from you again
Epidural is an anesthesia more safer than spinal anesthesia .
In Epidural anesthesia medicine is injected through epidural catheter in the extradural or epidural space (a space don`t have CSF - cerebrospinal fluid) ), dose is injected repeatedly as per requirement of patient. While in spinal anesthesia drug is injected in to the sub dural space having CSF, dose is small but effect is fast, there is fall of blood pressure & lower half of body becomes anesthetized .
Heart rates during pregnancy may increase slightly, but never alarmingly high.
It can increase 10-20 /minutes only on but if you feel flutter & pause & thump ,it will better to get your blood pressure & pulse checked from Doctor & consult or have opinion from heart specialist.
Fluctuation in heart rates can occur due to many reason.
