Question: HI,
I am 35 years of old and suffering with digestion problem (loose motion) from last two three days.
Yesterday I consult with doctor and told that I have taken lots of alcohol in last 7 days.
I am taking 180 ml alcohol daily from last 4 or 5 years.

Doctor suggest to perform test like stool analysis and liver profile.
Stool analysis is normal but in liver profile SGOT and SGPT levels are quite high 159 and 116 respectively

Doctor told me to quit alcohol immediately and prescribed me with
tab-Udiliv*300 two times a day and Uprise-D week a day

My questions are.

SGOT 159 and SGPT 116 are curable?
What type of diet I should take and which should be avoided

Thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
Liver function is revertible, stop alcohol completely

Yes, alcohol taken for long time can damage the liver function.

But it is good news that liver can cope up and get back to normal if the factors causing its damage are driven away completely.

Now answering your questions.

1. Yes, these levels are reversible. Stop alcohol 100%, continue the medication and follow the diet regulations

2. Diet changes: Avoid high salt content, be away from stored foods, frozen items, junk food, fast food, oily foods. High protein diet is recommended.

Hope this helps
