Brief Answer:
A cardiac ultrasound is necessary to confirm an "innocent" murmur.

Detailed Answer:

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that a variety of heart murmurs appear to be harmless. They are called "innocent", "physiologic", or "functional" murmurs. They do not indicate any cardiac disorders, but reflect sounds created only by blood circulating through normal cardiac and great vessels structures. They may persist through childhood, and sometimes even to adulthood, may temporarily disappear or even increase.

There is no need for any medication or physical activity limitations.

To be sure that a heart murmur is really "innocent" a careful screening by a cardiac ultrasound should be performed to rule out several structural abnormalities (which may be responsible for that murmur).

So, just a cardiac ultrasound and everything is totally clear.

Hope to have been helpful to you!
