If the cause is medical possibly breast cancer will be the most common one. Next any massive injury to the breast.
Cosmetically people do for there own interest.
If you go for prosthetic type device there is no harm because there is no surgical procedures. No studies proved about the safety of the prosthetics devices.
But in case of surgical treatment for breast may lead to some common complications like bleeding,size difference etc.post masectomy drug administration like immuno suppressive and chemo drugs will cause systemic problem.

So the cause for going for breast implant should be ruled out.
