Are Elevated ESR Levels In Blood A Cause For Concern?
Question: Hi, my little 21 month old grandson has just had bloods done and his esr has come back with a result of 86, which I believe is very high. They have said to go back in two weeks to do more bloods, but we are very worried as you can imagine. He has very swollen glands all around his neck. Any feedback you could offer please

Raised ESR is a very non specific lab finding and can be found in various condition like low hemoglobin,any kind of inflammation may be infective or non infective.
Enlarged lymph nodes are seen in infection or any blood disorder.I would like to know other associated symptoms like fever,cough etc if it is there.
I request you to attach the other reports like complete blood count if it is already done so that I better able to help you out.
