Are Foods Like Kiwi, Curd And Orange Juice Safe For A Newborn?

Question: Hello Doctor,
I have a 2 weeks old baby. He was 5 lb 13 ounce at the time of birth. I have a question regarding his food. My Parents mentioned that my wife should avoid few things to eat for 3-4 weeks as that can impact baby's health like Kiwi, Curd, Orange Juice. These food can trigger acidity, Gas etc. Also, they mentioned that she should drink water boiled in Ajwain (Carom Seeds) couple of time a day as that will help in speedy recovery and more milk production.
Please let me know if it is true and if she will benefit by following these instructions.

Brief Answer:
Drink more fluids
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. Can understand your concerns.
Drinking more water, milk and fluids result in increase output of breast milk.
There is no restriction of any kind on mother food, however spicy food should be restricted because it can lead to gastric problems in mother. As baby stays with mother all the time, chances of infection increases.
There is no proof about use of ajjwain in milk.
Give exclusive breastfeeding to child for 6 months.
I hope this will help you.
Wishing your child good health.
Take care.
