Are Multiple C-sections Safe?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Jul 2016
Question: I had 2 c-sections whicha are 4 years apart. During the second c-section, my gynae had difficulty getting the baby out during the surgery due to severe adhesions which I had following the first c-section. A week after the surgery I had severe post-partum bleeding. I'm now pregnant again, 8 months after my last c-section. Will this post a threat to my life or are there any severe complications if I were to go through with this pregnancy?

Brief Answer:
Some risks are there

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Repeated cesarean sections weaken the uterine wall and there is always a risk of uterine rupture in previous 2 cesarean section with pregnancy.

However, if you get an elective cesarean section at 36-37 weeks of gestation, before going into labor, then the chances of rupture are very less.

Moreover, during surgery, adhesion will be there, which can lead to urinary bladder or intestinal injury while separation.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
