Are Painful Thighs, Sore Throat And Low Grade Fever Symptoms Of Gonorrheal Arthritis?
Question: Hello, I am a 21 year old male
I am really concerned as last night my sleep was interrupted as I woke up in the middle of the night with a extremely painful hip. It was so painful it hurt even when I tried to lie on my other side. When I woke up this morning my shoulder hurt, it was dull but painful at the same time. As the day has gone on the pain in my shoulder has come and gone however my upper and inner thighs are now painful as well as my arms and I think I have a low grade fever however it could just be nerves. My biggest worry is that it could be gonnoreha arthritis as I did have an unprotected oral exposure around 1 month ago where I received and gave oral sex. I have had none of the common symptoms of gonnoreha as stated on the NHS website other than a a very mild sore throat however it still doesn't stop me worrying. I can't see a doctor for 4 months as I am abroad and I would be grateful if you could help me!

Brief Answer:
Ghonorrhea or chlamydia possible, antibiotics are usual treatment
Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,
from your description, ghonorrhea or chlamydia and also syphillis is possible. Even though i don't want to scare you. The only way to treat that would be through antbiotics. Azithromycin 500mg 1x daily 3 days would work against Ghon. and Chlam., Cefuroxim 500mg 2x daily 2-3 weeks for syph.
If there is any way you can get access to those antibiotics that would be advisable. Testing can be done later if not possible now.
Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards

Okay, are you positive that an sti is the most likely cause? even though I have had no symptoms until now? I don't think I can get hold of these antibiotics until I go home in six months.
Brief Answer:
Other cause possible
Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,
a more harmless cause like viral infection is possible. But this can't be guaranteed for sure without testing unfortunately. Since you don't have much of other symptoms except slight sore throat std is less likely, but unfortunately not to be 100% excluded without testing.
Best regards
