Can Salbutamol And Carbocisteine Be Continued To Reduce Cough In Toddler?

good day, my 1 yr & 7mos daughter had cough for almost 3weeks and consumed almost 45ml of antibiotics (cefixime 30ml & azithromax), 30ml salbutamol and 30ml carbosistin. Is it right to continue the oral medication or we had to confine her in hospital so be given intravenous medication? I doubtful because it is more stressful to her to be confined for she can t endure the pain caused by injections and dextrose.

Hi,

If your daughter has been taking antibiotics and other medications for three weeks and her cough is not improving, it may be time to reassess her treatment plan with her healthcare provider. Depending on the severity and persistence of her symptoms, they may recommend further testing or a different course of treatment, which could include intravenous medications.

However, it's important to keep in mind that hospitalization and intravenous medications may not be necessary or appropriate for all cases of prolonged coughing in children. In many cases, a persistent cough can be caused by a viral infection or other respiratory illness that simply needs time to run its course. In such cases, supportive care, such as humidifiers, plenty of fluids, and rest, may be the most effective treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
