Are Red Pimple Like Bumps In The Genital Area Indicative Of Herpes?

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: Do I have herpes? I am almost sure it is razor burn or something else along those lines but I have become sick in the past week prior to it showing up (nausea and fever.) The red bumps are on both sides of my bikini line and are not itchy or painful at all. They have been there for 4 days now. I really think it is folliculitis or something like that but I'm also a nervous hypochondriac and because I have had a fever I am concerned. Please help.

Brief Answer:
symptoms not in keeping with herpes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The lesions appear to be folliculitis as you mentioned.

Herpes does not tend to affect two separate areas, it forms as continuous rash.

In addition, some of the lesions have hair projecting outwards indicating that there are located just at the hair follicles.
The location of the rash as well, along the bikini line where you may have shaved also makes is more likely to be folliculitis.

Herpes also evolves to form small open ulcers that then heal over, the lesions from the very beginning are also painful and the fact that you have no pain also further rules out herpes

Fever is part of the body's inflammatory response and occur in response to any illness or trauma.
Since you experienced nausea also with the fever, this may mean that it was due to a mild gastritis (irritation/inflammation of the stomach) that has since resolved.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
