Are Silicone Implants Safe For A Patient With A History Of Hodgkin's Lymphoma?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jun 2016
Question: In 1990 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. I had surgery(removal of the spleen) and radiation. I have been cancer free since. In July, 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer(DCIS). I had a bilateral mastectomoy with expanders placement. I am currently considering implants but am concerned. I was reading up on silicone implants and according to the literature, patients with silicone implants ?have a possibility of developing a rare form of Non-Hodgkins(ALCL). My question is this: given my medical history; ie: Hodgkins; am I predisposed to the possibility of developing ALCL? Would I be better off with the saline?

Brief Answer:
No you are not pre disposed to Non hodgkin's lymphoma.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have bilateral mastectomy and you want silicone implants. You can go for it. You don't have any added risk. You have risk just like others. So don't worry about that.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
