Are Test Results Taken After 5 Months Of Exposure Conclusive?

Question: I had an exposure ( unprotected vaginal sex ) 7 months ago... I went to my doctor at 3 days after my exposure she did all the test swab test for chlamydia and gonorrhea it came back negative , then she did a follow up at 5 months again a swab test for gonorrhea and chlamydia it was two days after my period ( menses ) was over , the doctor told me it was ok,,, the test came back negative the doctor told me and that my results were accurate .. is this correct ? my period even if it was 2 days after it was over wouldn't have affect my results?
Brief Answer:
You can rely on the test.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
A repeat test after 5 months of exposure if it has come negative then it rules out both the infections. Two days after the period the sensitivity of the test is more than 95% and thus the prediction of results is accurate.
You are truly negative for the infections- thus not infected.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

the doctor at the after taking the swab test , asked me if I had my period before and I told her yes , and she told me that she could see still a lil blood but that wouldn't interfere with my results , is this correct ?
Brief Answer:
She is correct.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Just a small blood in the swab can affect the results if it is directly visualized under a microscope but it does not interfere with culture or other serological tests. Your gynecologist is correct.
Hope my answer is helpful.
