Are There Any Adverse Effects Of Catheter On Sexual Life?
My libido seems to be less. Also seems harder to ejaculate. Maybe all in my head?
If your diagnosis or medications are not responsible, then no
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The repeated use of catheters can cause the penis to and the urethra to get a little dilated causing ejaculation to become a little painful.
Libido should not be affected by the use of a catheter, but it also depends on the cause for placement of the catheter, like renal diseases, prostate abnormalities, etc. Although, some individuals have reported anxiety or sexual self-esteem when it comes to their sexual life whilst being on a catheter, but this has to be dealt with by counselling and should not otherwise be an issue as individuals with a catheter can have a perfectly normal sexual life as well.
So other than the psychological approach to sex and libido, I do not think you should be suffering from any other cause for your libido changes. But please also speak to your doctor about the diagnosis, and whether the diagnosis or any medications you have could cause this.
I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.
