Are There Any Interactions Between Zoloft And Delsym?

Question: Hi, I am currently on Zoloft and have a minor cold with a cough. Very mild but I couldnot stop coughing when I lay down so I took 5ml of delsym 12 hr cough meds and realized I did not check to make sure it did not interact with my Zoloft. I see that it can have a serious interaction, want to make sure I will be ok?

Yes as you have read these 2 drugs interact and may cause serious side effects.

There is no method to check the drugs have interacted or will cause any side effects on you nor there is counter acting medication . Treatment depends upon the side effects .

The only thing which you can do is if you anticipate following symptoms then consult emergency room doctor immediately to get treated for the side effects. This Is the treatment option .

The side effect are following
- vomiting, diarrhea, shivering, sweating, giddiness, increased heart rate , any uneasiness
-confusion, hallucination, seizures etc.

Don't worry usually at the dose taken by you and according to your age side effects are less likely and also side effects are not seen in all . Only thing is you should be alert of the possible side effects and consult doctor when needed.
