Are There Any Side Effects Of Duvadilan Retard?

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Jan 2015
Question: I am 19 weeks pregnant and I am taking duvadilan retard since when i was 16th week as advised by my gyno as I had bleeding on 16th week, it was heavy bleeding kind of blood clots and I was hospitalized for a week and discharged, now I am still taking duvadilan retard and Lomorin 40mg injection everyday.
Please let me know is there any side effects taking duvadilan? and shall I stop taking duvadilan?
I also have pinning pain at lower abdomen, do I need to take any medication for the pain? or is there any infection? I had scan last week and everything looks fine.

I am taking following medication.
Duvadilan tablet and Lomorin injection daily
calcium+folic acid+Argpreg+ecosprin 75+ iron tablets

Brief Answer:
possibly an abruptio + thrombophilia...send reports

Detailed Answer:
hello,
thanks for contacting healthcaremagic
If you had bleeding in the 16th week of your pregnancy, then there was likely an abruptio placentae and of the revealed variety where bleeding occurs at the placental and uterine junction, which is actually dangerous for the pregnancy and it was right to keep you hospitalized and on complete bed rest and observe the fetal well being for a week.
you have rightly been started on duvadilan . If the scan is normal and there has been no bleed seen , which is unlikely. The progesterone support is necessary in form of duvadilan to keep the uterus at rest so that uterine contractions dont occur and bleed doesnt reoccur.

If possible i would like to see the scan report firstly and secondly could you tell me why ecosprin and lomorin was started for you. It is to be started in women with acquired or inherited thrombophilias only...

I would like you to give me all the details and if possible attach the reports of investigations done as well. if you are thrombophilic and had abruptio then duvadilan and lomorin has to be continued till term .

please send the reports for purview.

I am pregnant through IVF and also I am taking Proluton Depot 500 injection weekly once and gestosar 200 tablet (pelvic) 2 times daily.

Ecosprin started from 1st week as this is advised for all IVF patients.
Lomorin/Clexane 40 mg injection daily advised after 16th week (after bleeding) until 34th week to avoid any chances of miss carriage.

Is there any other precautions need to take care in my situation? Please advise.
I will try to send my scan reports.

Brief Answer:
explained

Detailed Answer:
thanks for the follow up.

if you have been an IVF conception then it is justified to continue on ecosprin.

However if you have been on proluton depot weekly as well, that can be continued till 24-26 weeks.
Clexane has been added to promote good blood supply with its anti thrombotic nature but its a double edged sword as if it bleeds then bleeding would be in excess. hence it should be stopped at 34 th week ( lungs mature by 34th week)

Duvadilan can be continued till another 3 weeks to allow for the uterine dormancy with the aim to allow adequate fetal growth.

please send the reports
regards
