Are There Some Side Effects Of Letting An Infant Eat Chocolates?
Avoid anything except breastfeeds or formula feeds
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I completely agree with you and appreciate your concerns. Do not worry. You may strongly object to the unnecessary introduction of any foods, drinks, and chocolates based on the following facts:
- Babies should be offered only exclusive breastfeeding or formula feeds in the first 6 months of life. This is important as the digestive system and renal system are too immature to handle any food products which we adults can very easily tolerate. Even licking is prohibited to avoid any infections.
- caffeinated products can lead to several side effects even in small quantities such as stomach upsets, colics, irritability, excess urination leading to dehydration etc. So avoid it.
- start introducing complementary feeds which includes all your staple diet after 6 months when baby is mature enough to tolerate and also the taste buds are developing.
Hopefully it will be of help.
