Are Weakness And Dizziness Suggestive Of Zika Virus Infection?
Question: Hi,
I'm 63 years old and returned last Thursday from XXXXXXX (Coral Gables), for 3 days and onto Cuba for 8. While in XXXXXXX in received a couple bites, not sure what type insect, but itched like a mosquito. I didn't get any significant bites while in Cuba and used repellent. I'm not feeling great and am wondering what the symptoms might be if contracting the Zika virus. I'm weak and extremely dizzy. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thank you so much!

Brief Answer:
Most likely not Zika!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed this information. While pika is a possible disease, its epidemiology and symptoms are not typical. it is still very rare to contract this disease from these nations/areas though they do exist there. The common symptoms of fever and rash are absent and further weighs against any possible Zika virus infection.
I will recommend healthy diet, fruits, vegetables, much fluids and rest. If this fails to resolve, then you may need to get in for full evaluation, laboratory investigations and management at the nearest health facility.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
