Are Weakness And Tiredness Normal After A Transfusion?
Question: Is it normal to feel weak and tired after a transfusion? I had a 1500ml transfusion, as well as a 750 ml iron transfusion on 5 days ago. These went well, with no immediate reactions, but the today (5th day ) I have no energy to do anything. Am I being impatient, and need bed rest, or is there something wrong?
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I understand your concern. I would like to know further details
What was the hemoglobin level at which iron was transfused?
What iron preparation was used?
What is the hemoglobin level now?
Intravenous iron sometimes may be associated with lethargy and generalised weakness, If the blood pressure and pulse rate are normal without any further symptoms, then there is no need to worry. It goes away slowly.
Please share the details.
Thanks and regards

Thank you Dr Sundriyal. I do not know any of the details you ask, because our hospitals in Australia are notorious for not telling the patient anything.
However, as my blood pressure, pulse rate and temperature are all normal, I will just rest .I am probably too impatient, being an active oldie :-))
Best wishes.
