Are Weakness And Weight Loss Symptoms Of Cancer?

Question: Hello Doc. I am a 29.5 year old male. Recently I have noticed that my weught has started to climb down loosing nearly 6 kgs. I also feel a bit of weakness at certain points. Apart from these I also suffer from Hyper acidity reflux disease. I am concerned if these are any symptoms of a cancer. My father died of esophageal cancer. Can you also suggest me some tests if you feel its required. I am attaching a endoscopy test I had some time back.

Hello dear. Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the details provided by you.
The loss of weight is a cause of concern.
I would like to know whether you have other symptoms like loss of appetite, night sweats and low grade fever.
These symptoms may or may not point towards cancer as they can be seen in chronic infections like tuberculosis also but in any case requires investigation for the cause.
Your endoscopy report does not suggest any malignancy of the area seen. However you require treatment for H pylori for which you must consult a gastro physician.
I would suggest you following test
Complete blood counts ESR,
mantoux test
liver, kidney function test, diabetes profile and thyroid function test
ultrasonography of the abdomen and a chest xray
Please revert back with these test

Hello doctor, thanks for your response. I donot suffer from any of the above symptoms you mentioned. I would however do a full body checkup and send you the reports. Does not having the above symptoms give me any relief?

Hello dear. I have gone through the reports. Your reports are all normal except for a T3 toxicosis. This can explain the weight loss. You require a further detailed evaluation for the hyperthyroidism. You do not have any signs of cancer in these reports.
So you need not to worry from malignancy point of view.
Please visit an endocrinologist for the evaluation of hyperthyroidism and further treatment. You will require anti thyroid drugs like carbimazole or propylthiouracil
