Does Carbimazole Cause Inflammation Like Side Effects?
i have a hyper thyroid and have been on carbimazole for 15 months.my doctor said that i have an inflammed nerve on my lower back and it is going down my legs too, ive been taking remov for 3 weeks and still in pain. my doctor told me that it is possible to be side effects of pills..... how do you think?
Carbimazole has many side effects most of which include mouth ulcers, a sore throat, fevers, or usual bruising. I did review the rarely seen side effects of this medication and I did see one reference to it causing nerve pain. In my experience I have never seen this occur, but the literature does say that it is at least possible.
I couldn't find any additional information on the type of nerve pain, regions of the body and mostly affects, so unfortunately any more information than that. In my experience this would be a very unlikely side effect of this medication and I would encourage both you and your doctor to explore other possible sources for this discomfort.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
