Generally I get tightness of chest, thudding of the heart and difficulty breathing, but recently I had one episode of the heart quivering really badly that really frightened me and which went on for nearly 7 minutes and one episode when there was difficulty breathing, tightness of chest and pain down my right arm. The stronger episodes occur more in the night when I am lying down/sleeping.
My MD physician took out a one minute ECG and gave me an anti-anxiety tab. I don't want to take it for long periods as I found it habit forming. I would rather treat the problem itself.

Brief Answer:
you should get further work up
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I agree with your MD doctor that your symptoms may be due to anxiety .your view point to avoid anti anxiety may be accepted once we have clearly ruled out major heart problem .
I suggest following actions
1 .Get your ECG while you have ongoing symptoms if possible .
2.Get colour Doppler echo cardiogram done to rule out benign condition like MVP
3.If above reports are normal get exercise stress test done.
If all above tests are normal you can safely presume that your symptoms are not related to heart .
My best wishes
