Can Adderall XR Be Purchased Without A Prescription?

Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: Hello, I have a legitimate case of severe ADHD. My disease was an adult onset that I did not test positive for until after I had graduated from college. I am telling you such so that you know that I am not looking for a prescription to help me (semi-cheat) in school. In addition, 6 years ago a incurred a sever traumatic brain injury, which caused my condition to multiply greatly.
I am currently prescribed a certain dosage of adderall XR to take on a daily basis. Unfortunately, it is not quite enough for my condition and I would like some IR medicine to supplement. At night, I also like to restrain from taking my last XR and take IR instead so that I will have enough of an appetite to eat dinner at a reasonable hour.
In sum, I would like for you to prescribe me adderall IR that I can get filled today because I run out of my current supply after tonight.

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and thanks for your question.

Let me begin by saying that we cannot prescribe medications from this website. However, I will also stress that for ADHD, therapy is equally important, if not MORE so, than medication for dealing with the kind of stress and problems you are describing.

I'd like more medical history from you. Tell me more about your TBI. I think understanding this will help us understand how we can treat your ADHD and related symptoms without resorting to high levels of stimulant medication. Also -- what symptoms are bothering you most? It sounds like sleep and appetite might be areas we can target together.

We can also discuss your schoolwork and how your medicines help with that. Have you ever engaged in cognitive behavior therapy to help you with schoolwork?

I am also interested in why you do not ask your prescribing doctor for a change/increase in your medication. Is there a problem with that relationship? Perhaps you would benefit from a different set of opinions, such as those I offer as a psychiatrist and therapist.
