Can Albuterol Sulfate Be Used For Bronchospasm Without Doctor's Advice?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Aug 2017
Question: is described as (albuterol sulfate).....should I actually be using this medicine? I'm 69 years old and have
still been working full time in my profession for 49 years. Please note that the surgeon involved was
great and had nothing to do with these prescriptions issued to me so many years ago. Just wanted a
2nd or 3rd opinion due to my breathing issues which I've never really experienced like now.
thanks Doc.......have a good day XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Do some tests

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HCM

As you explain the history albuterol sulfate is a drug indicated for relieving the bronchospasm and is not for long treating just for a urgency

Before using this inhaler the most important is to find the cause of the bronchospasm.

If you were my patient i would reccomend you to do the following tests for evaluating your lungs status:

Spirometry test with bronchodilatators
Chest x ray

After having the result your treating doctor will decide further if you need this inhaler or another one (like Budesonide) and for how long you should use it.

Please discuss with your doctor for the above

If you do them you can attach me the results and i will advice you further.

Take care
