Brief Answer:
Alleve would be preferable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

Both Advil and Alleve are pain killers belonging to the same group of drugs called NSAIDs.
But the Alleve is a newer and better suited for the symptoms of menstrual cramps and dymenorrhea. It will also help with back pain.

The safety profile of Alleve is slighly better than Advil.

Both could cause gastric upset but the chances are more with Advil.

Would recommend you to stick to Alleve if you are having adequate pain releif with it.

Hope this helps.
