Dear XXXX
Though many a times Calcium channel blockers have been postulated to be associated with the risk of developing Parkinson's disease, it has been postulated to be associated with long term use. I am practicing in India and there are many clinicians in India who find Amlodepin very effective at controlling essential hypertension. With such widespread use I am yet to see in last 10-12 years of my practice a case which is amlodepin induced parkinsonism. Also the clinical presentation of drug induced and Idiopathic PD is different though what your patient has I would have to see clinically. Further more I am sending you a link to an interesting study where it was found that Calcium channel blockers might even be protective against Parkinson's disease. Please click on the link.
I hope you find it useful. Let me know if you need clarifications.
