Can Ativan And Levofloxacin Be Taken Together When Diagnosed With Viral Pneumonia?

Question: Hello I have viral pneumonia right now and the doctor prescribed levofloxacin to me. I also take Ativan daily and am concerned if this is alright. I also told them I have Hep C and they still prescribed this drug. I understand it is hard on the liver and this worries me. Can you give me any info? I'm on a 10 day supply of the levofloxacin. Thanks, XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
You should continue treatment advised by your doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
Viral pneumonia is a rather milder form of pneumonia in adults and mostly requires only symptomatic treatment. However antibiotics are prescribed to prevent any superadded bacterial infection which may complicate the issue. Levofloxacin is a popular broad spectrum antibiotic with not many major side effects. You should continue taking it as advised by your doctor. You can even take it along with ativan.
Do not worry too much and take care.
