Can Avamigran Be Taken During Pregnancy?

Question: I take Avamigran (ergotamine/cafeine) for migraines. I have an awful migraine now but think I may be pregnant (home pregnancy test is positive, waiting for dr appt on Friday). Is this safe to take now? If not what should I take? Tylenol doe snothing for my migraines.

Brief Answer: You can take a triptan. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for posting your query. Ergotamine is not safe in pregnancy, and you should avoid taking it now. However, triptans are safe. You can either take sumatriptan or rizatriptan tablets for headache relief. These are safe in pregnancy as well as breastfeeding. I hope my answer helps.
