Can Buprenorphine Be Detected In Hair Samples By Immunometric Screening Test?
Question: I have been using the Butrans 20mg patches exactly as prescribed for over a year. I was given 4 separate ua tests and all returned with negative results. I recently went to an independent testing facility and paid for my own test when they told me that the normal ua would not detect the Butrans patch. After two weeks, those results also was negative. What gives? I got the paper form of my ua test yesterday. Totally negative for all drugs including the Buprenorphine(which I am taking). The only drug trace was the Ketamine that the Hospital uses every two months when I get the nerve block in my back. Can I try to find a testing facility that can test hair for any signs of the Buprenorphine? I need help. I am using my Butrans patches but the test says no.
Can I try to get hair samples tested to get to the bottom of why there is no Buprenorphine in my ua?
Brief Answer:
Yes,it can be detected in hair.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX
Thanks for writing to HCM
Yes,it can be detected in hair when routine investigations are giving negative results.
Buprenorphine can be detected in hair samples by immunometric screening test.
Extracts are analysed by immunometric screening test in automatic analyser, using buprenorphine CEDIA reagent assay.
There is good relationship between the administration of buprenorphine and its concentration in hair, detectable through this method and reagents line.
