Can Chlamydia Infection Be Contracted Through Intercourse?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Sep 2016
Question: I had a positive urine test for chlamydia which I was given antibiotics for, this is fine. My boyfriend of 9 months tested negative on his urine test. He thinks I cheated on him. I haven't! Help!!

Is his negative urine test accurate? I've also heard of swabbing.

Is a negative urine test accurate, could it be a false negative?

Brief Answer:
THis can stay positive for long!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

You can stay with this infection for several months without any symptoms. It is possible that you caught this from your previous relationships and was never diagnosed before then because of the silent nature over that time. Let him know that the fact that you tested positive doesn't necessarily means this was a recent infection that proves you might have cheated on him.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
Could be a false negative. There is no reason to think he's psoitive

Detailed Answer:
HI,

It is possible that this could be a false negative but there is no obvious reason why he should be positive. I think the hypothesis that you might have been infected before ever getting together is more plausible. However, he might want to get further testing using both blood and urethra swabs given the fact that you are positive and certainly his sexual partner.

Let me get what the results say.

Until next, I wish you both well.
