Brief Answer:
can take azithromycin.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.
You are taking co-amoxiclav and clarithromycin for pneumonia.
Azithromycin is the drug of choice for chlamydia.
You can take it with your current drugs.
But as azithromycin works for both pneumonia and STD, you can take this instead of clarithromycin.
(Both clarithromycin and azithromycin belong to same class).
Kindly discuss this with your doctor.
Take the appropriate doses as prescribed.
Hope this helps.
Get well soon.
Regards.

Thanks, as I was in hospital last would they of picked it up when they ran my bloods in a&e as they didnt know what was wrong??
Brief Answer:
blood tests are not reliable for chlamydia.
Detailed Answer:
Chlamydia can be diagnosed using a swab or culture.
Blood tests are unreliable for diagnosing chlamydia.
A complete blood count in which there is raised leukocyte count or neutrophils suggests infection.
Do ask your doctor about the exact diagnosis and appropriate investigations.
The drug treatment would thus be decided.
Azithromycin would be the single best drug.
Hope this helps.
I wish you well.
Thanks.
