I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Its very nice that are in phase of inactive ulcerative colitis.
You should avoid codeine because -
1) Codeine is an opioid narcotic which, as with all opioids, has constipation among its well known side effect.
2) This codeine can disturb bowel balance which may lead to a flare-up of ulcerative colitis.
3) Codeine regularly for a long time can lead to addiction, which might make you feel restless and irritable when you stop the tablets.
Remember these things always-
a) Follow up your gastroenterologist regularly as advised
b) Avoid coffee
c) Practice breathing exercises for relaxation because this will also decrease occipital region pain
d) Do meditation and yoga to decrease stress because stress can worsen symptoms
For pain in occipital region you should consult Ophthalmologist for refractive error because it can be due to your eye problem.
To decrease occipital region pain i always suggest my patient to do -
Take a towel, roll it and put it below your neck during sleep.
Do hot water fomentation twice a day for 4 to 5 days .
Avoid all pain killer until you consult with Ophthalmologist and then after with gastroenterologist.
