Brief Answer:
Yes, dexamethasone can be added, in consult with your doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Methotrexate is started in Rheumatoid arthritis patients when there is severe and active disease with poor response to full dose of NSAIDs like naproxen.
The next logical step is to XXXXXXX out the dose of Methotrexate with a single oral dose not to exceed 20 mg /week, to minimize the risk of bone marrow suppression.
Dexamethasone is useful in providing rapid control and relief in inflammation and RA disease flares. It can be used for a short course and then tapered. Abrupt discontinuation can lead to complications. For more aggressive disease , it can be administered for longer periods of time, starting at a higher dose to cover the flare response and continuing it at a minimum maintenance dose, in consult with your doctor/Rheumatologist.
Let me know if you have any query.
Thanks.
Please consult your doctor before deciding on any further course of action.
