Brief Answer:
Yes. Can be better.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing to hcm.

Blood glucose control and bp control can be achieved with various classes of medications but the practice is to always put patients with type 2 diabetes on metformin because of its multiple long term benefits. Similarly for bp control the preferred class is acei or arb type for example medications like perindopril or valsartan. Diamicron which is gliclazide and amlopress which is amlopdine are also good medications but not the first choice. The optimal sugars should be less than 130 before food and less than 180 after meals. Hba1c should be less than 7%. Bp is supposed to be less than 140/90. Do you have any associated renal problems? How old are you? May I ask your race? I am enquiring this as some bp class medications are preferred for Africans and XXXXXXX Americans over others.

Regards.
