Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I went through your query and understood your concerns.
Diphenhydramine is mainly used in allergic conditions to reduce severity of symptoms. Drowsiness is one of the side effect of this medication. I usually Donot prescribe this as a sleeping aid.
Diphenhydramine is know to increase heart rate and has know side effects on heart in terms of changing heart rate and blood pressure. With your previous history of atrial fibrillation , its not recommend to use diphenhydramine as a sleeping aid.
Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask further related query.
