Brief Answer:
Take antihistamine for dry cough.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to health care magic,

Dolo 650 is actually paracetamol which is used to reduce fever and also used as a pain killer but it has not much role in dry cough.

You can take over the counter antihistamine like cetrizine 10 mg or levocetrizine twice daily for dry cough to have a symptommatic relief.

Here,I would like to know,

Since when you have this severe cough and throat pain?
Do you have fever?
Have you tried any other medications?

From your symptoms, it is likely to be upper respiratory tract infection.

But before discussing further, kindly get back to me with this information.

Thank you for the answer.

I got my throat pain last thursday night, and I woke up with fever, headache, sore throat and body weakness. So I took Dolo 650 and Becasule capsule for Vitamins. The fever, headache and the body weakness all subsided. But, this sore throat with sever rough dry cough and pain when swallowing is still here espically in the night times.

Brief Answer:
Take analgesics with anti-inflammatory combination also.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reply.

Sore throat, fever, headache, weakness and dry cough are symptoms of upper respiratory infection.

Majority of cases of sore throat are due to viral infection but it is slightly difficult to say clinically (whether it is viral or bacterial) without appropriate blood investigations.

But if your fever and other symptoms has subsided now, then at present there is no need of any further investigations.

Dry cough and pain during swallowing could be due to inflammation of throat which might take some time to resolve with symptomatic medications.

Antibiotics are not usually required in case of viral infection but you may take it (like levofloxacin 500mg or azithromycin 500 mg) to prevent super infection and also it would help you to resolve from this throat symptoms quickly.

Your GP or some local doctor may prescribe it.

Also, take analgesics with anti-inflammatory combination (paracetamol + ibuprofen-brand name:combiflam) drugs available over the counter.

Nebulization with steam inhalation 2 to 3 times daily and warm salt water gargles which will also be helpful for symptomatic relief.

Continue with capsule Becasule daily once.

Hope this will help you, feel free to ask if you have more questions.

Thanks and Regards,
