Can Famciclovir Be Taken For Cold Sore?
Question: I have developed a cold sore, I have not had one since 2010, but still have famciclovir medication for it expired 10/11. Is it still safe to take?

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
Since it has been more then 3 years from the expiration date of your medication, I would not advice to use it, not because it is not safe to use, but because it might not work to the same efficacy. Some other factors that would make it not safe are also depending on where you have stored it, how you have applied it (if it is contaminated with germs or not), have you closed it well after application the first time.
Anyway, to summarize, I would not advice its use.
