Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I would explain that this is an antipsychotic drug, used to treat acute or chronic psychosis.

The acute discontinuation of this drug can lead to aggravation of the symptoms, such as aggression and psychosis.

It is recommended to gradually lowering the dose in 2 weeks until stopping, in order to avoid aggravation of the symptoms.

But, the fact that your son wants to stop this drug, may be another symptom ( delusions).

I recommend consulting with his attending physician for a careful mental evaluation and discuss on these issues.

Hope to have been helpful!
