Can Gabapentin Cause False Negative Urine Test Results For Illegal Drug?
Question: Can Gabapentin 600mg x 4 at bedtime cause a false/negative on a urine analysis the next day and/or show up as a different drug (script, non-script or illegal) ?

Gabapentin has rarely been responsible for false results on urine analysis. If the test is to look for gabapenntin in urine, then am pretty sure that the test would turn out positive. If it is to look for other medications not related to it, then it would turn out negative. This drug can only have an effect on any urinalysis results if the compound being tested for is closely related to it. If you could tell what substance you are being tested for, then I would be able to double check and see if there are any possible false results that may be caused by gabapentin.
In all, this is very unlikely.

Thank you for your response. I am being tested for alcohol & for 'Controlled Substance Drugs'.

I am sure this would not affect your urine test results especially about alcohol. Gabapentin is not a controlled substance and would be unlikely to cause any problems even if it were to be detected in your urine. Besides, none of your medications is a controlled substance and there should be no fear about this.
