Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: Sir,
I had a protected sex with a sex worker with condom several years ago, almost 6 years. i fingered here and my finger had small fore skin removal above nails at that time. and i fear whether i touched her breasts with that finger and sucked them.
Over these years iam in great frustration and fear and i fear to test on a regular lab.
I had a big job offer now and fear the pre medical check ups..
Please advice
Thanking you,
Jinu

Brief Answer:
If there was no symptom within 6 months from the sex then infection unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. If you had protected sex 6 years back and inserted your finger at the time then it is unlikely that you have any significant illness right now.

2. Most infections and diseases of sexual nature cause symptoms from 30 days to 6 months. If you have been healthy till now then it is unlikely that you have any sexually transmitted disease from the above event.

3. There is no need to have any fear to get tested for employment purposes as you do not have any symptoms. Therefore please do not miss job offers because of the anxiety. Instead, you can get yourself tested for sexually transmitted infections in a laboratory of your choice and I am sure the results will be normal.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for the expertise advice..
Iam not having any illness or unhealthy feelings presently
I have read somewhere that the illness and symptoms for HIV will be zero upto 10 years in most cases and it will emerge after 10 years, is this right??
And what will be the chances of spreading based on the sexual activities i explained?
A recent blood test result of mine were as follows
Heamoglobin 14.6
Total WBC count 6700
Neutrophils 56
Lymphocytes 38
Eosinophils 2
Monocytes 4
Basophils 0

Is these tests shows any signs about the STD s?

Brief Answer:
HIV infection cannot occur in your case

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. The antibodies in HIV infection appear in 6 months in most cases. Only a single case is documented where the person had antibodies after 12 months. The 10 years time duration is not right to the best of my knowledge.

2. HIV will not spread after fingering, even if you think the sex worker was HIV positive. The amount of virus for HIV infection to occur cannot enter through broken skin in finger. Sucking the finger will not cause HIV infection.

3. Your blood counts are normal and STDs cannot be confirmed from this test.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
