Can HIV Be Contracted Through Non-penetrative Sexual Activity?
Question: I went for body to body massage along with hand job done. No Mouth to Kissing was done. She was in underwear, other wise naked and I was also fully naked. No penetration was done. My penis might have touched her vagina / panty: Not sure.
I went for HIV DNA PCR Test ( PCR Qualitative), P24 Anitgen Tests, HIV Antibody Tests after 18.5 days of exposure. All were non-reactive/ Negative.
However, VDRL was positive but TPHA was negative done on after 21 days.
As of now, no cancres/ spots on body.
What are my risks of HIV / STD? I am bit anxious.
How can I be 100 % sure that I have nothing.Any further tests required?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of STD /HIV is unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM
Thanks for posting your query
Without a penetrative sex, massage, hand job,and touching of penis to the inner wear have only negligible risk for HIV.
HIV Tests after 18 days were not conclusive. Better to repeat the same after completion of 4 weeks.
With regards to Syphilis, as That was negative, you are unlikely to have Syphilis.
VDRL reactive is possible with other conditions also. Consult your physician. He will help you.

What test you will recommend for conlcusion after 30 days of expsoure.
Brief Answer:
Antigen based HIV test will be conclusive by 4 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
You can have either a p24 Antigen test or a DNA PCR test to rule out HIV 1 infection . These tests are highly reliable. There are special test kit available to detect HIV 2 also through PCR test with certain special lab. This will rule out the rare possibility HIV 2 infection.
Otherwise you can go for any 4th generation DUO/COMBO test after 12 weeks.

Sir,
If you kindly refer my early write up, I have done HIV DNA PCR after 19 days which was negative. Many doctors told that DNA PCR is reliable after 2 weeks. Still need to do HIV DNA PCR / p 24 antigen.
The test was done SRL XXXXXXX Do they check both HIV 1 & 2 in DNA PCR Qualitative Test.

Brief Answer:
DNA PCR is diagnostic only for HIV 1 infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome again to HCM.
As you rightly pointed out HIV Antigens can be picked up by HIV DNA PCR from the first week on wards.
But when the Antigen concentration was low in early days the test may unlikely to pick up the same and reflected as a negative test. So the test becomes more conclusive and reliable around 3-4 weeks rather than 19 days. Normally the available DNA PCR are able to either confirm or rule out only the HIV 1 infection and not the HIV 2 infection, the prevalence of which is very much lower than 1%.
SRL, XXXXXXX lab results are more reliable than other labs in XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
HIV 2 and HCV has to yet be ruled out
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.
As i have told already, your encounter has only a negligible risk for HIV. You had already ruled out the possibilities of HIV 1, HSV1 and 2, Hepatitis B and Syphilis.
HIV 1 is the commonest HIV infection world over except in certain pockets of XXXXXXX In XXXXXXX 99.5% of HIV are due to HIV 1 only.
If you still want to rule out HIV 2 also then you have to go for another test after 12 weeks as HIV 2 antigen detection is not incorporated usually in this DUO test where as the same contains HIV 2 antibody detection part. Antibody detection is possible only after the window period ( which may extend up yo 12 weeks). If you want to rule out HCV also that also you can do along with HIV Antibody test.
