Question: Hello,
I had a oral sex without cum in my mouth and after 5 month and 2 weeks I had a HIV combo test and it was negative, but I read even if you have negative you can have a very low viral load now I'm scared I'm going to start a new work and they are asking for hiv/aids test it's now a year since my last exposure is it possible I'm infected or not since my result saying negative

Brief Answer:
You are HIV-free, nothing to worry about ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. If at all you were tested at the right time (with the correct time gap and from), and your result was negative then you are indeed free from HIV.

In case you wish to confirm and clear your mind, I would recommend a HIV DUO test which is 99.8 % accurate if conducted now. But this is only for your own satisfaction, and not for mine as I do think that you are free of HIV.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

So what ever number next to it and the word postive next to it does not matter since after 5 month period is past since my hiv combo test is NEGATiVE
Now it's one year you think the period of five months and 2 weeks is enough?
And aids is the final stage of hiv and you need to test hiv first right
I'm sorry to ask so many question I want to take my work medical check up in 100% confidance and o scared of hiv or the test would show up and postive result

Dr what I mean is is 3 month shows accurate negative in hiv combo
And the hiv combo test for all things that matters with hiv/aids
And dr XXXXXXX kanodia told me oral sex is not a mode of hiv transmition do you agree or not since no fluid in the mouth and the slaiva kills the virus if there is a pre cum do you agree

Brief Answer:
I am sorry, I am here now, please write to me

Detailed Answer:
Hi ma'am.

Yes, I do think a period of 5 months and 2 weeks is more than sufficient for the HIV combo test to provide us with an accurate result; and yes I do think the test reported an accurate result.

Yes, you need to test for HIV first and once that is ruled out AIDS need not be a worry.

Do not worry ma'am, I am here to answer all the questions you have, you can ask me as many as you want.

Yes, 3 months is the usual period you have to wait before going ahead with the test, and tests conducted before this period can result in an inaccurate or wrong result. But as you tested after 5 months or son, your result will be correct.

Oral sex holds a very very small chance of transmission of HIV, and we almost never see patients who get infected with HIV through oral sex.

I am sorry, it is my day off, so I woke up a little later than I usually do. :)

Chances in my opinion are nil/non-existant especially because you have not displayed even one symptom.

I am here now, so please ask me whatever you want. And I am here to make you feel better. Do you have any sores on your face? Can you attach a clear image of your face to our discussion?

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Not an STD according to me ma'am, nothing to worry about

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

I completely concur with the other doctors, this is the region of the tonsils and is thus an infection requiring antibiotic coverage, which I am assuming the doctor you visited has already prescribed.

I do not see any cause for concern, and would like to rule this out as an STD ma'am. :)

Please do not ever hesitate to write back to me anytime, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Bilateral infection is seen in the picture

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Tonsils are bilateral, and yours are bilaterally affected so it is nothing that can be associated with an STD. But you will surely require antibiotic coverage to help treat the infection in my opinion.

So if you have not already been started on antibiotics, then please speak to your doctor about giving you a prescription for the same.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Still nothing to worry about xxxxxx :)

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again xxxxx

Hope you have been keeping well other than the mild infection of the tonsils. After analysing the latest picture, I am still sure that this is nothing to worry about. I would say that you have indeed experienced an improvement after using the antibiotics, and I would recommend the continuation of the antibiotics.

Please do not get all worked up or worried as there is no need to worry, and I do not think you should get worried. But if there is anything at all, please do not hesitate to write to me anytime okay?

Best wishes.
