Can HIV Be Contracted Through Protected Sex?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Jun 2016
Question: Dear ladies and gentlement,

I have had a risk exposure to HIV one night ago and would like to incquire your instant consultation on whether or not a pep is needed (I know it is only recommended on "high risk" cases; however, if it comes down to the wire I am happy to pay the money should there be a realistic chance of being infected).
I had protected sex with a prostitute. In the middle of things I turned the condom insight out after being out of her vagina for a few seconds (for the purpose of this question lets assume between 15 - 30 sec at climatized room temperature). As far as I remember, the condom didnt feel very wet; thus vagina fluid may have been limitted. After realizing the stupidity of my action (and in the process of putting the condom on my penis insight out), I took it off and bought a new one. Vaginal fluids probably touch top of penis regardless, but no further sexual actions until new condom was put on (e.g. 2-3 min).
Now my question: Do I have chances of being exposed to HIV?
I don't know if relevant but I have several small pimples (molluscum on gentitals) around the penis / intimite zone with none of them visibly opened. Lets assume there was one open, could there be a risk exposure if it came into contact with vaginal fluids (e.g. her being on top of me)?
In that way, If the womens vaginal fluids only reached the top of my penis without further engagement, could it reach my bloodstreeam or would it simply "die", even if some of it reached the opening of my penis (don't know the name for it as I am no native english speaker)?

I understand the risk of exposure is probably fairly low but as you probably understand best due to your occupation, the threat of being exposed can cause nightmares in people's head.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
The chances of being exposed are very unlikely.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome to HCM.

You had protected sex with protitute than the risk of getting the infection is already not there. Also the possibility of transmission with contact of her vaginal fluid with any cut or abration on your penis is practically nil so don't get scared or worried.

HIV virus is not able to survive outside the human body or in an open environment and it will die only in few seconds so the risk is fairly unlikely in your case. Be relaxed and forget about the incidence.

As your friend I will also advice you to stay away from such unsafe sexual practices to prevent the future risk of HIV or other STDs. If still any doubt left in your mind feel free to ask me any time.

Thank You

Dear Dr. Jangid,

thanks for your response and your professional feedback. I understand that the risk is fairly small given the protection. For a HIV transmission to be successfull, is there a lot of vaginal fluid required? And more importantly, how does the vaginal fluid get into the bloodstream - will it have to be triggered through a mens ejaculation or how does it get from penis head into the bloodstream?

As mentioned, in the middle of us having intercourse, I turned the condome insight out for just a moment - vaginal fluids may have touched the top of my penis for that time being.
After screening through the internet and your response, I realized that the Virus dies within seconds; however time frames vary from immediately to one minute. As per your expertise, have you ever experienced or heard of anyone being infected this way? Of course I understand that this answer will only give an indicator as not everything is reported.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
I have not seen or heard about such exposure.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

Semen or the vaginal secretions are the fluids which transmit HIV virus to blood stream and favorable for their growth but the way of transmission you are talking about than frankly speaking I have not came across any such case or never heard anything about such incidence that is why I am saying you need not to worry at all because the risk is practically nil so be relaxed and move ahead in life happily.

Thank You
