Can HIV Or Hepatitis Be Contracted Through Manicure Or Pedicure At Parlor?
Question: What are the chances of contracting HIV, or Hepatitis from getting a manicure or pedicure at a nail salon? The salon has been in business for six years, it hasn't got BBB complaints, but I just heard that Arizona doesn't require Autoclave for equipment. Is there anything I can do to mitigate any risk (besides not going again)?
Brief Answer:
Not many options
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.
I think I would be able to help you.
The problem is genuine.
The chances of transmission may be low but always present.
Unfortunately, there is no good way to make sure there is no transmission from the instruments except for you to carry the instruments yourself and find a saloon that won't be insulted by you demanding to perform the massages by your instruments. Alternatively, you can find out some one who will do it for you at home like a free lancer.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

I didn't know about the risks, so I didn't carry instruments this time. I go to this Salon/Spa for haircuts, and on impulse, got a acrylic manicure and pedicure. Should I go to the doctor and be seen?
Brief Answer:
Depends on injury
Detailed Answer:
See the transmission happens if they have caused a cut to you. If there is no skin injury, you can wait. However, if there has been a cut or a blade has been used, it's worth a visit to the doctor.
