Can HPV Be Spread Through Kissing?

Question: Hello Mr XXXXXXX i read an article about oral hpv being spread by kissing. I am disturbed by this a tad bit, as i thought i had no risk factors for an oral hpv infection. Aside from my husband i have kissed my ex with whom the relation was only limited to kissing. Do you think i have heightened risk now.My recent PAP was normal.

Hi,

Oral HPV is spread by kissing.
However there are other reasons for spreading.
One has to have polygamous relationship at given point in time.
It is easy to spread in high risk behaviour and not like the one you have.
You seem to be honest to your husband so no risk.
It is good to get PAP smear done every year and coming out normal.

Thanks Suma, so if i understand you correctly. Oral Hpv is spread by kissing, however in my case since we have a monogamous relationship and aside from my husband i have only kissed 1 person 6 years back the risk is non existent.
