Brief Answer:
Meet a gynecologist or a venereologist for further help.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

What you said about a wart is absolutely correct. It will manifest as bumps or tiny growths over the genitals.

The problem is in females, the visible part of the genitalia is 25% only and the remaining portion remains non-visible. Therefore, most of the women are not aware of their problem. The inner parts of their genitals are not innervated well. Therefore, it is very difficult to perceive the same by that individual.

A thorough examination with a speculum by a specialist (Gynecologist or a Venereologist) will help rule out genital warts. VIA and VILI test will provide additional procedure to rule out sub-clinical warts.

Doc for syphillis which test is more conclusive- VDRL OR RPR? can just one RPR test
after 2 years of exposure be conclusive and rule out syphillis ? what is the window period for various STDs like chalmydia, gonorrhea, syphillis,PID and genital warts?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Window period for each disease will vary. VDRL is not in vogue nowadays.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

VDRL test is almost obsolete now. It id not being done. Only RPR is being done. When we ask for VDRL, lab people do a card test and give result which is actually not VDRL, but an even better specific and reliable test (not available in dilution as it is not a quantitative test).

Confirmatory test like TPHA is necessary only when a positive result comes, not to confirm a negative test undertaken after 1-2 months after the exposure.

The window period varies with each disease. Gonorrhea and warts are mostly diagnosed with symptoms and investigations on discharge in gonorrhea, not with blood tests.

Blood tests will be reliable after exposure:
Syphilis: 4 WEEKS after the exposure
Chlamydia: after 3 months

PID is a complication of gonorrhea and chlamydia, it is not a separate entity.

sir can medications like orgamed, provera, meprate, metformin, synthroid, antihistamines, corticosteroids, steroids like nasal sprays (nasacort),eyedrops, paracetemol, contraceptive pills, pain killers, topical creams, herbal medications and CANNABIS as bhang (diluted form taken few years back)- can they affect various STDs tests(like chlamydia,gonnerhea,HSV1/2,HPV,hepatitis panel test) outside there respective window periods by producing false negatives? can medicines have such an effect on these STD test?
2.can periods(menstruation) affect the STD test results mentioned above by producing false negatives,if these tests are taken at the time of menstruation?can the negative results be taken conclusive if the tests are taken at the time of menstruation?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Menstruation will not affect the outcome of test results.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

1.As with HIV tests, oral steroids, oral contraceptives and hormone tablets taken during the period of sero-conversion can delay the antibody formation to an extent and the possibility of false negative results within the expected time of sero-conversion cannot be ruled out, but not for months or years.

2. Menstruation in no way affects the outcome of any antibody or antigen tests.

Negative tests during the time of menstruation can very well be taken as absolute.
