Can Hydrocodone Be Taken After Aleve And Tylenol Intake?
Question: Can I take hydrocodone APAP 5/325 after taking 2 aleve and 2 extra strength tylenol (650mg) . I took the aleve and tylenol 8 hrs ago. I have a knee injury waiting for final diagnosis. I try to take OTC first but they just aren't working today.
Brief Answer:
Yes you can take the hydrocodine now
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You can take the hydrocodine APAP safely now yes. you should not take this drug and Tylenol together but should substitute. You can take aleve with both. you should take no more that 4g of acetaminophen in one 24 hr period, that's up to 1g every 6 hours.
Best wishes

I have been taking tylenol arthritis which is 650mg/tablet. The instructions say I can take 2 at a time but no more than 3 tablets in a 24hr. period. To clarify, are you saying its safer to take 1 tablet every 6 hours? When not using hydrocodone, my standby is the 2 aleve and 2 650 mg tylenol--this seems to be the level that abates the pain. I take this 4 to 5 days out of 7 . I have to take a break from the aleve due to reflux problems. Thx for your prompt response. Its a weekend and a week until my next MD appt. and it usually takes a couple of days to get an answer to a non urgent question from his office. Took the hydrocodone (just 1) and it did take the edge off the pain. Thx!
Brief Answer:
Take 1 Tylenol arthritis and 1 hydrocodine APAP
Detailed Answer:
hi,
why don't you take 1 Tylenol arthritis with a hydrocodine APAP every 6 hours. you will still be under 1g of acetaminophen and 4g in a 24 hour period. take 500mg of aleve twice a day.
if Aleve bothers your stomach you should take ranitidine or omeprazole or an equivalent drug once a day.
best wishes
