Can I Change The Dose Of Istamet And Take?

Question: i was prescribed by a general physician to use istamet 100/500. but that dose is not available in market. i doubt whether doctor by overlook recommended it against market available 50/500 dose. whether i am correct?
Hi,
Welcome to XXXXXXX
You are right the dose prescribed to you is a typographical error. Istamet is not available in that combination. The drug is available as Sitagliptin 50mg and Metformin 500/1000mg combinations. These are the medicines used for blood sugar levels control in Type-2 diabetics.
It may be possible to take the two drugs in the recommended doses if you buy the two drugs separately that is buy Sitagliptin 100mg and Metformin 500mg tablet and take them together.
Such combinations are used in difficult sugar control scenarios by physicians.
You have better ask your clinician for better clarification on the issue.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
Take Care!
