Can Livogen Be Taken Along With Milk Or Fruit Juice?

Question: livogen be taken with milk or fruit juice? and should it be taken before or after food
Brief Answer:
better to take it after food
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query,
Livogen contains folic acid and iron, which is a supplement. It can be ideally taken at any time of the day, but I would suggest you to take this everyday at the same time, preferably in the night after your food.
I would not suggest you to take it on empty stomach as iron has the tendency to cause abdominal discomfort.
You can prefer to take milk or fruit juice after taking livogen, so as to reduce the abdominal discomfort.
Hope this helps

HERE SOME LOCAL DOCTORS SAY THAT IRON TABLETS SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH ORANGE JUICE OR LEMON WATER FOR GOOD ABSORPTION AND NOT WITH MILK
THEY ADVISED SO, BECAUSE THEY SAY THAT IRON AND CALCIUM SHOULD NOT GO TOGETHER AND SINCE MILK CONTAINS CALCIUM
I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THIS LIVOGEN TABLET IS BEING TAKEN BY A PREGNANT WOMEN(7th MONTH)

Hello again,
Thanks for writing back,
I have read through your further queries, and thanks for pointing out that it is taken by a pregnant lady.
I am indeed sorry for not making it clear enough on my line saying, "You can prefer to take milk or fruit juice AFTER taking livogen".
Iron supplements are normally given during the pregnancy period with or without indication, as certain amount of blood loss will be encountered during labour. Therefore, it is usually given as prophylaxis.
Iron tablets are best absorbed when taken on an empty stomach, but most of the patients have reported abdominal cramps, constipation, after taking on an empty stomach. Therefore, it is best to take it with meals high in vitamin C or fruits rich in vitamin C, like orange juice, kiwi, strawberries. Vitamin C contains ascorbic acid, which enhances the heme absorption.
There is no known interaction when milk is taken with iron supplements. But in cases where the effect of iron supplements is appreciated at the earliest it is better to avoid milk along with it. Milk when taken should be spaced accordingly after iron supplements. You can have it with a time gap of 2 hours.
Hope I have answered to your queries,
Regards
