Can Marvelon Be Taken Instead Of Mercilon?

Question: Hello I usually take mercilon but have travelled with my husband and forgot my pills. The only similar pill I could find was marvelon so I took one last night.. am I safe to mix two days of marvelon pills and then go back to mercilon when i fly back home tomorrow?

Brief Answer: continue with marvelon Detailed Answer: Dear member, Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. Both mercilon and marvelon are similar in their action as both are contraception pills . There is no difference in their contraception action so you are protected from unwanted pregnancy if you have not missed any pill. The marvelon however has a slightly higherdose of estrogen than mercilon. Hence it will be better to continue with marvelon and after this cycle switch back to mercilon after periods. Brief Answer: not dangerous. you may experience spotting. Detailed Answer: Dear member, Thanks for writing back. It is not dangerous if you go back to mercilon. Only you may experience some spotting or bleeding which is annoying. If you are comfortable with mercilon only then yout can take it once you go back but expect mild Spotting in midcycle . Otherwise there is no difference between the drugs. They are essentially the same. Thanks Dr Bhagyashree
